Subscribe to the BVOR Newsletter for frequent updates.<\/h3>\n<p><a class=\"button button--primary\" href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/rstp.ca\/bvornews\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Subscribe to the BVOR news<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>How does the \u201cblended\u201d model work?<\/h3>\n<p>The BVOR program is a \u201cblended\u201d program because it is a cost-sharing arrangement whereby IRCC and private sponsors contribute financially to support the refugees. Private sponsors are also responsible for providing settlement support to the refugees for the whole length of sponsorship period (typically 12 months).<\/p>\n<p>Refugees resettled under the BVOR program receive income support from the Government of Canada through the <a href=\"\/en\/sponsorship-responsibilities\/resettlement-assistance-program-rap-rates\/\">Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP)<\/a> for <strong>6 months<\/strong> after their arrival (during months 2-7). Private sponsors offer another <strong>6 months<\/strong> of financial support (during month 1 and months 8-12) and cover the initial startup costs.<\/p>\n<h3>Some previous refugee populations in the BVOR program include (but are not limited to):<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Syrians, Iraqis, Iranians, Afghans<\/li>\n<li>Congolese, Ethiopians, Eritreans<\/li>\n<li>Somalis, Colombians, Sudanese<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Learn more:<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"button button--primary\" href=\"https:\/\/rstptemp.turnbull.co\/en\/bvor\/bvor-refugee-backgrounds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BVOR refugee backgrounds page<\/a><\/p>\n<p>(Please note that this list may change and\/or expand as new crises and conflicts develop around the world.)<\/p>\n<h3>Reasons for Resettlement:<\/h3>\n<p>The reasons why BVOR refugees cannot stay where they are and need to be resettled are often complex. Often times they are particularly vulnerable because they are or identify as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Women and girls at risk<\/li>\n<li>LGBTQI or Diverse Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Expression (SOGIE) Persecution<\/li>\n<li>Survivors of violence and torture<\/li>\n<li>They lack a foreseeable alternative durable solution (that means, they have no other &#8220;durable&#8221; options. The Refugee Sponsorship Training Program provides training to potential BVOR sponsors across Canada, from the first steps of getting a sponsorship group together, learning what is required to knowing what settlement supports are available throughout the sponsorship period.<\/p>\n<p>In order to sponsor, Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents must form one of the following groups:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/rstptemp.turnbull.co\/en\/refugee-sponsorship\/sponsorship-agreement-holders\/\">A Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH)<\/a> or a Constituent Group (a group that can sponsor refugees under a SAH agreement);<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/rstptemp.turnbull.co\/en\/refugee-sponsorship\/groups-of-five\/\">A Group of Five<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/rstptemp.turnbull.co\/en\/refugee-sponsorship\/community-sponsors\/\">A Community Sponsor<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18.72px; font-weight: bold;\">Frequently asked questions: &#8220;Can I refer a refugee or refugee family to the BVOR program for sponsorship?&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>No. Refugees in the <strong>BVOR program<\/strong> are referred by the UNHCR to IRCC.
