At the time of arrival, the amounts calculated for this individual should be provided directly to this dependant in their own bank account. Sponsored person(s) who are over the age of majority in their community of settlement at time of arrival as well as those who become so at any point during the sponsorship period must be provided with start-up and monthly basic needs, communications and transportation allowances (and shelter, if required) according to the RAP rates for single persons (that is, they cannot be considered as dependants to the family when calculating financial support requirements).

Note that this tool provides an estimate of the minimum sponsorship costs and sponsors should budget based on the actual costs of living in the community of settlement.
In-kind donations include donated goods, commodities or services (such as gently used furniture or clothing, or housing provided at no cost to the sponsored family). Only a certain percentage of the total value of in-kind donations can be subtracted from the financial support that must be provided to the sponsored refugee(s) as start-up support.
Refer to Appendix A of the Sponsorship Application Guide for SAHs, Groups of Five or Community Sponsors for the maximum value of donated items that can be applied towards the financial obligations for start-up and monthly costs of the sponsorship. The maximum allowable in-kind deductions are also provided below under each item. In-kind donations cannot be valued for more than either their actual value or the maximum in-kind deduction amounts.
